Preface of Volume II Issue 1

Abstract

Editorial Note

Journal of Urban Development Studies (JUDS) is aiming to publish up-to-date, high-quality and original research papers along with relevant and insightful reviews in the field of urban development. On behalf of the Editorial Board Members, I am glad to present that this journal has now published this present Volume II, issue I and made seven articles ready for the academic world.

The first article deals with Effect of Urban Expansion on Forest Degradation in Addis Ababa by Mr. Fentaw Kassaw and Dr. Mesfine Tilaye; and the second article is by Mr. Adewale Olufunlola Yoade, Mr. Olawunmi Rebecca Yoade & Mr. Foluke Ayeni and the title reads as “Adequacy of Infrastructure Facilities in Nigeria Rural Areas; Example of Ondo East Local Government, Ondo State”. Mr. Hluf Girmay & Mr. Alemayehu Agizew’s Urban Built-up Area Expansion and its Impacts on the Livelihoods of Farm House Holds in Peri-urban Areas of Atsbi Town, Tigray Region, is the third article. The next Article is about Urban Growth Assessment in Delhi N.C.R: Using Remote Sensing done by Mr. Kumar Praveen and Tesfaye Teshome (Assistant Professor) has contributed by one article which is about Provisions for and Application of Women’s Entitlement for Urban Residence in Addis Ababa. The sixth article is about the Provisions for Sustainable Urban Agriculture in Addis Ababa: The Urban Planning Perspective by Dr. Daniel Lirebo and author of the final article is Dr. Belete Ejigu on Addressing the Need for Car Parking Lot Shortage in Addis Ababa City.

On behalf of the entire editorial board members and the publisher, I would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to all our submitting authors who have toiled in the production of their work and have chosen JUDS as the journal they would like to publish in. Out of many articles submitted, those that do have their work accepted should be proud of their achievement.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of the managing editor, Mr. Mekonnen Maschal (PhD candidate) for all the active endeavors in doing with the editors on one side and the authors on the other side. In addition to the online printed format with Print ISSN: 2788-9963, the articles are also accessible online via http://jms.dlc-ecsu.org/index.php/juds/issue/view/2 (ISSN: 2788-8517). Again taking this opportunity, it is genuine to prompt the readers to submit any papers individually or collaboratively and to make a substantial contribution to the success of the journal. Journal of Urban Development Studies (JUDS) was launched in the late 2020 under College of Urban Development and Engineering of the Ethiopian Civil Service University and has continuously published Issue I and II on the first Volume.

We are very fortunate to be supported by Dr. Alemayehu Debebe, vice president for the research and community service of the Ethiopian Civil Service University and the university in general for all supports in this regard.
