Abstract

Urbanization is a desired phenomenon and in our country we strive to achieve maximum urbanization as it is considered to be one of the indicators of development. But simultaneously it causes various other problems like slums and squatter, congestions on roads and other harmful social and environmental consequences. Analysis of the classified image showed that the physical growth of urban area is upsetting the other land cover classes such as agricultural area, water resources, green cover etc.
